I would definitely visit again.

A solo female traveller in Pondicherry, I couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The hotel is in the heart of the city, without a noisy neighborhood. All... read more significant places are within a radius of 1-2 kilometers. The place is a cosy, snug little heritage house (built in 1760!), with tastefully done interiors. The place is small and if you're looking for an ultra luxurious space, you should perhaps choose a resort. But if you want a space that is clean with ethnic aesthetics (not overly glamorous or ostentatious) and with wonderfully warm people who'd go out of their way to help you, this place is for you! Thank you Anantha for providing me with a truly memorable stay. I am so so glad I chose this place 🙂 More
10/16/2019Situated in a crowded area on a busy narrow street was certainly not my intention when I booked this highly reviewed and rated small hotel. Before I write further please... read more bear in mind that I visited pondichery in off season when it was unbearably hot and stuffy. It's a very small building on a narrow street easy to miss. Staff no doubt is praiseworthy. Room was big and bed was comfortable. AC was not effective since it was scorchingly hot outside. There is a very small TV and when you open the door there is a temple outside which people have liked in their reviews but I didn't. There is a small window which overlooks another room so you have to keep it shut. All the passages have low doors and anyone more than 5'6" height would bang their head. You can't walk down to beach as it is around a km away and there is heavy traffic. Choosing a hotel is all about liking and priorities and this one certainly didn't fit the bill for me.
4/30/2019Had a recent stay for 3N at Anantha Heritage. This property is a true heritage home amd run very well by am extremely courteous staff. Nagraj as the manager and... read more Visalakshi as the receptionist were very courteous. Rest of the staff were ko less on this front. Rooms are huge and extremely clean. Have been to properties which in the name of heritage keep the furniture dusty and not polished. But here it was maintained very well. Didnt have food here so cant comment. The location is apt for those who like to explore the city. Everything is walking distance - 1km. It's right next to the famous varadaraja perumal temple. WhiteTown is 1km away. Parking is not easy being a narrow street but the staff always helps you to get a place around. In all a very pleasant stay. More

We loved the old world look and feel of the hotel. The temple next door was a special draw and it was great watching the temple tank from the balcony of the upper floor. The temple bells that rung very morning was a pleasant add on. We did visit the temple one evening. The beach and other attractions of Pondy were a short 5 min drive away. We had daily breakfast and one meal -a lunch - at the hotel and all food items well made and served. Overall a great stay.
7/13/2019We went to Pondicherry with no prior knowledge the place except for what we read on TripAdvisor or from few of those who travelled earlier.
On seeing the reviews of... read more Anantha Heritage on this site, we decided to go ahead and book the hotel.
Pros
We loved the start at Anantha.
The staff was courteous. The hotel was well maintained. The food was great. Good was reasonably priced. Basic necessities were present in the rooms. The staff was very much helpful as we were with a four year kid too. Car parking was available. Bathroom were neat and room service was really positive.
Anyone looking for a heritage feel in proximity to a temple souls must visit this place and stay.
Not far from the French colony and the Pondy beach. All places of visit are at a cyclable distance.
Cons
Those looking for a five star hotel experience, need not come here. I didn't find any cons here as we found the stay pretty homely. More

The two rooms of this... read more 6 room hotel in first floor is the best. Cause it’s got the back of a South Indian temple tower and the temple tank as it’s perspective. Right next door. Wake up to temple bells and chants to see the vibrant colours of the towers and the soothing sight is the pond.. right in front of you. More

She got me a map of Pondicherry showing where the main tourist points were.
Honestly it's not too far away, unless you don't like walking but I thought it was a good distance from the center. From outside of the room you have a great view on one of the temples and at night see the lights and hear the bells.
The staff were very nice and efficient, always available if needed, the room was clean. If I ever come back to Pondicherry I'd go there!

Pros:

Nice heritage property, small, but neat.
Conveniently located, in the middle of everything
Nice rooms, spacious.
Manager was very cordial, talked about the property, suggested places... read more to see etc...
Cons:
--------
There is no full time restaurant, I did not get anything at 8pm. But they do arrange to buy food for you from nearby hotels.
Small niggles like if you open the water in washbasin, the shower stops working etc...
But these small issues, we can always work around.
